Living the Frugal Life…..”Let’s save some money” Being frugal is not being cheap. Philippians 4:12 “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want”. We serve a frugal God, but He is not cheap. He is our example. Let’s enjoy the journey on the road to frugality.
Hello and welcome. My name is really Mary, but I have been called Jean all of my life. Funny story, I did not know my name was Mary until the summer before I started the 1st. grade. My Grandmother gave me my, “you are going into the 1st. grade speech and she said, oh, by the way when the teacher ask for Mary; you raise your hand”. I said ok, and in my mind that was my new school name. So, I hope you will alsocall me Jean.
I have not always been a frugalperson; but I have learned over the last few years it is the best way to go. Frugality puts you in control of your own life.
I live in the Cincinnati area and by profession I am a Nurse. I take care of children. I really love my job. The children God gives me to care for are precious and a blessing to me. I am also a part time Wedding Planner which I have done for over twenty-five years and love it!
I have been married over 40 years to the same husband and we are the parents of one daughter and one son who between them have blessed us with 6 beautiful grandchildren ages 5 to 16. We are blessed and thankful for each of them.
As I said, I have not always been frugal, I came of credit age in the late 70′s, at that time credit cards ruled. The more cards you had the more pretend money you had. So my motto was spend all you can. Well you know by 2000, things got out of control. Job losses and on and on. Around 2003 I had an new revelation and God showed me how to make the change. I became passionate about saving money and couponing became one of the ways to reach many goals. I read and study everything I can find to help build a better life and I am happy to say it is working. Here is the plan: Save some, invest some, tithe, pay your bills, and give some. It is a no fail system. I love the frugal lifestyle. I don’t miss anything, I still travel, eat out sometime and have fun. Organization and planning are the keys I have found. That is what this blog is about, being an informed consumer. Saving is contagious you will love living the frugal life, I am sure of it. I have always loved to shop and I still do, however these days I never leave home without a coupon or discout card. I am a wise, stratigic shopper these days. I look for a way to save on everything I do, from food, to gas, to travel and clothes, there are ways to save in every area. Once you start you will love it also. I hope you stop by frequently. I also hope my blog will be a blessing to you.
